About

nl1

I am 44 years old,  married , have 5 grown children and 8 grandchildren.  I live in a small town north of Memphis,  Tennessee known as Ripley,  with a population somewhere in the neighborhood of 7,000 to 10,000 residents. I have been on a journey for all of my adult life and that was to become financially self sustainable, where I would not have to commute to a job everyday. That journey is finally starting to shine through and I know financial independence is reachable not only for my self but for you as well.

Just after high school graduation I joined the Marine Corps where I served 3 years.  I traveled from one end of the United States to the other during my tour of duty,  regretfully having never traveled outside the US.

After leaving the military I went to work in a factory named Paslode and remained there for 22 months until I was laid off,  I then sought other employment and found another job working for Charms candy factory for 1 year and was laid off again.  I then sought other employment and found another job working for Tupperware for a year until they closed and moved their operations out of country.

I then decided it was time to go back to school. I got my electricians license as well as an Insurances licences so that I would have something to fall back on,  but going to school, working and taking care of a family, all began to take their toll on me and I had to slow down. So I sold insurance for 16 years for a company named United Insurance Company of America and did extremely well.

When the 9/11 attacks happened it was the beginning of a downward spiral for the economy and the Insurance business.  It was then that I realized, I would again need to find something that was steady and secure.  Now, not that it was something I wanted to retire from but I went to work in the Federal Prison system as a corrections officer and that took some getting used to. I had never been inside of a jail let alone a prison and getting used to those bars clacking closed behind me took some mental muscle I must admit, but it paid the bills and considering the financial atmosphere in this part of the country the pay was excellent.

My hobbies are simple,  I love to travel and while traveling I always have a great time sight seeing,  I absolutely love roller skating,  I love quiet time to myself,  I love spending time with my grandchildren, among other family occasions.  So to say I’ve had my experience in jobs, dealing with the public,  dealing with stress,  would be an understatement.  The internet was and is my excape from the rat race of earning a paycheck and living form paycheck to paycheck.

Sincerely

Michael D Gaines Sr.
